PocketBook announced yesterday at the approach of the Book Fair 2012, a new modern electronic book reader, the "Touch PocketBook 622", to compete with dignity the younger generation of Amazon Kindle 4, by Kobo Fnac and other Cybook Odyssey.
175 x 114.5 x 9.5 mm for 195 g
The French manufacturer already renewed its electronic book reader iconic, PocketBook 611 Basic, launched probably in a hurry, just after the aforementioned trio, as evidenced by his screen legacy.
The new "Touch PocketBook 622" fixes it by adopting the latest technologies segment. For starters, it revolves around a particular E-Ink Pearl screen 6 inches (15.24 cm), identical to that of competitors. It must be said that so far it is the only viable choice for a conventional reading light.
This screen electronic ink is overcome, as the product name suggests, a multi-layer capacitive touch. If it brings ergonomics now widespread including pinch to zoom, it can cause a reduction in contrast ratio, unlike the method being adopted certain infrared reading lights competitors like Kobo by FNAC.
Physical buttons are still available, and they are welcome because they allow the reader to change pages instinctively.
The "Touch 622" also houses a 800 MHz processor, 128 MB RAM, 2 GB of internal memory, expandable via a microSDHC card (up to 32GB), Wi-Fi connectivity and an N 1100 mAh battery. The set runs a new interface that supports multiple formats, including ePub and PDF, and loaded with features dictionary, translator, web browser, RSS reader, handwritten notes manager, music player (MP3) , calendar and calculator.
The "Touch PocketBook 622" will be marketed in France by the end of March retail price of 160 euros, making it the most expensive of the lot, certainly ten euros only.

Note that PocketBook launched a few weeks earlier the "PocketBook A 10" ". This Android tablet is often overlooked because of its outdated data sheet: Android 2.3 Gingerbread at a time when Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is democratized, Texas SoC Instruments OMAP 3 series (previous generation) and weight 670 g.
