CeBIT 2012: Acer announces Ultrabooks in Ivy Bridge and GeForce 600
Do you like this story?
Acer profits CeBIT 2012 to announce a little ahead of new laptops equipped with components of the next generation.
Aspire Timeline Ultra M3
The Taiwanese manufacturer confirmed to start the upcoming launch of the range "Timeline Ultra", briefly mentioned at CES, with a model first introduced as the first Ultrabook with a screen diagonal of 15.6 inches and a unit Optical (a DVD burner in this case).
More importantly, if this "Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3 'sticks to the current Intel platform Huron River, with a Sandy Bridge processor, that is to say, a second generation Core, however it houses a dedicated graphics chip next generation, an Nvidia GeForce GT 640M, exploiting the future architecture code-named Kepler.
Nobody knows for now not much, if not it will measure "only 20 mm thick," according to the specifications of the Ultrabook name, but he also distinguished himself by a claimed battery life of 8 h, above average. Storage will be provided by a hard disk supported by a DSS, and the shell consists of aluminum alloy.
The first "Timeline Ultra" should be launched as early as March.
Aspire V5
Acer Aspire V5
The family "Aspire V5" does not claim (yet) the title of Ultrabook, but it has the taste and color. Declined by 11.6, 15.6 and 14 inches, its representatives measure respectively 15, 21 and 23 mm thick. Only the largest of these three models therefore exceed the specifications of Intel.
Anyway technically, all three adopt not only the future platform Chief River, embodied by a third-generation Core architecture Ivy Bridge operator, but also the future generation of NVIDIA GeForce dedicated graphics chip architecture Kepler, except perhaps the smallest model. The two largest embark also an optical drive.
Ivy Bridge requires the family "Aspire V5" will be launched during the second quarter of 2012, which starts very soon, however.
Aspire V3
The family "Aspire V3" should work to succeed the current Aspire TimelineX family at entry level. This time, Acer also does not focus on weight or thickness, presumably in favor of the sale price. The family would be broken down into 14, 15.6 and 17.3 inches, but more and 13.3-inch diagonal book that seems to Ultrabooks. The definition would stick to this as the WXGA (1366 x 768 pixels) on both raw and HD + (1600 x 900 pixels) on the last.
Otherwise we would find architectures Ivy Bridge and Kepler, for a launch date this time not provided.
