Purge the history of updates for Vista and Windows 7

Under Vista, installed updates can be found in a list that becomes somewhat tedious to read over time. If you decide that all those that are installed will be kept and want to give more visibility to the next, you can clear the list.

We'll have to cut it the Windows Update service, make a change, and then restart it. The change is indeed not available in the state since the service in question is permanently active. Open the Start menu, enter "cmd" and then right-click the shortcut that appeared to select "Run as administrator".

windows update

In the window that opens, enter "net stop wuauserv", which stops the Windows Update service. Before running the command to delete the list of updates, be aware that this operation can not be canceled once performed. If you are ready, write: "del% systemroot% \ SoftwareDistribution \ DataStore \ Logs \ edb.log".

Once the file is deleted, the list is empty. But do not forget to restart the Windows Update service using the following command: "net start wuauserv".
