How do I know if my computer is infected by virus?

It is possible that malicious software (viruses, spyware or other potentially unwanted software) is present on your computer if:

You notice new toolbars, new links or bookmarks you have not added to your Web browser.

Your home page, the mouse pointer or the research program changes unexpectedly.

You type the address of a specific site (such as a search engine), but are directed to a different Web site without notice.

Files are automatically deleted from your computer.

Your computer is used to attack other computers.

Contextual ads appear, even if you are not on the Internet.

Your computer suddenly starts to be slower than usual. All the problems of computer performance are not due to malware, but they, especially spyware, can cause considerable degradation.
