iPad 3 vs 3 Tegra: NVIDIA critical opacity of the benchmark

Apple has introduced yesterday the iphone 3G and, as is his habit, compared to competition, namely the Android tablets. Apple has particularly praised the performance of its chip A5X compared to the three Tegra chip, which Nvidia claims with was quick to respond.

Apple A5X

The Cupertino company has actually presented a chart comparing graphics performance on three chips, and claiming that Apple unveiled the iPhone A5 4S is twice as powerful as the young Nvidia Tegra 3, fitted to a multitude of shelves and since few Android smartphones, and that the new Apple iPad A5X is four times more.

"We did not test the protocol," rightly observes an Nvidia spokesman relayed by our American colleague ZDNet. "We should know what (s) application (s) has (have) been used (s)."

If you can override the operating frequency or the amount of video memory of the Apple A5X, since final consumers compare products anyway regardless of these characteristics, we can regret however that a key issue as the definition of benchmark would not be revealed.

Apple does not communicate in that the four processing units GPU of this chip, which does indeed not make much sense without more information.

Finally, note that the manufacturer has accustomed us to much more transparency with well annotated diagrams, and astonishingly it did not include the diagram above on its website.

Nvidia promises anyway that it will procure the new iPad soon as possible to carry out its own performance tests ... But will he have the courage, if applicable to publicly admit his defeat hypothetical?
